the one with the heavy 90s sitcom star

my wife has a crush on zac efron.

we rented the movie "17 again" and i was extremely satisfied with the notion that no matter how pretty a teenage boy may be, eventually we all more or less end up looking like a doughy matthew perry.

the thin man returns

william powell is awesome and myrna loy is too adorable in this film series.

my favorite line is from the first film where nick is progressively discovering christmas presents that his heiress wife has done him the favor of buying for herself.

she bends over him while he lounges with his breakfast cocktail and a baubly necklace dangles in his face.

he reaches up to inspect it, looks at norah and inquires, "another present from me?"

she nods a confirmation and he wryly comments, "i'm spoiling you."

they don't make dialogue like that any more.

enjoy the sketches.

whiny vader

here's a sketch from a while back.

i liked this sketch but i was trying to work it into a composition where his silhouette formed vader's helmet.

it proved to be the better of me.

nonetheless, it resurfaces as a 'rings post.

enjoy.

where the wild 'rings are

this drawring is inspired by one of my favorite sites, drawergreeks.com.

every 2 weeks or so they have an illustration subject.

this week's subject was "where the wild things are."

i'm hoping to get on the invite list but in the mean time i'll have to wait for the posts.

here's my sketch to final images.

a propensity for grimmery

when people ask me who my favorite comic character is i always say spider-man.

however my favorite comic book series has always been the fantastic four.

while cleaning up my office the last few days, i've noticed that every sketch book of mine always has several drawings of the ever-loving blue eyed Thing.

mad props to the legendary jack kirby.

as if he needed it.

here's some random ben grimms from my sketch archive.

crazy is as crazy does

i was once reamed by an editorial cartoonist over this rendition of tom cruise.

he said that tom cruise was a matinee idol and that i made him look like a demonic, crazy person.

this was before the couch incident.

one drawring to rule them all

heeeeeeeere's frodo

the hef

i was impressed by a photograph of the dirty old man in rolling stone.

here's my take.

jakob dylan

college illustration that really got me hooked on caricature as editorial statement.

i was really struck by the frail posings of bobby d's boy.

i wanted to show his stiff almost cadaver like image.

fete the vette

here's a spot illustration that i did a few years ago for a company newsletter.

7 of 9 - what a hottie!

i used to work at the local fox affiliate and i was responsible for airing the late night star trek: voyager episodes.
